FREIGHT ACCEPTANCE GUIDELINES FOR SHIPPERS
Frozen and chill product shipped at all ports must be presented in the following manner. Goods not offered for shipment within these guidelines will not be accepted by Labrador Marine Inc.
All freight offered for shipment must be properly protected for transportation by sea. Goods such as windows, snowmobiles and ATV’s will be accepted at “Owners risk of damage” if these items are not properly protected or crated. Labrador Marine Inc. will not accept claims for goods shipped in this manner.
Freight such as palletized drinks must be sufficiently stretch-wrapped to ensure it is stable for transportation by ship. Labrador Marine reserves the right to ensure this product is properly wrapped and will place additional wrap on any pallets with insufficient wrap. There will be a charge for this extra stretch wrap at the tariff rate.
Pallets should be loaded such that heavy goods are on the bottom of the pallet and are not so high as to be unstable. Goods shipped by truck are often held in place by the confines of the truck. Goods shipped by sea have to be moved over the ramps of ships and off/on vessels, often in less that ideal conditions. Please keep this in mind when preparing freight for shipment to Labrador ports.
Labrador Marine Inc. will endeavor to ensure that all goods accepted are properly secured for transportation by sea and will reserve the right to refuse any shipment deemed to have insufficient or improper packaging.
If you have any further questions on these items please call 709 535 6601.
